2019: the year of the cyber risk

There were three-quarters of a billion cyberattacks in the first quarter of 2018; up from 2 billion recognised attacks across the whole of 2017. Experts believe that these numbers will be even higher in 2019.

Cyber risks are changing – yes, there are more of them but they are also becoming more complex, more targeted, and frighteningly, are using AI to evolve once release to circumvent security.

No-one knows exactly what 2019 holds in store, how big the data breaches are going to be, the form that attacks will take, nor how many companies will go out of business because of it, but we can take an educated guess based on our experience and analysis of the market.
