Beijing is the site of the first robot-aided restaurant. Haidilao, Asia’s biggest listed restaurant chain by market value, is partnering with Panasonic to open “the world’s first eatery with a fully automated kitchen”. At the new restaurant, robots will take orders, prepare and deliver raw meat and fresh vegetables to customers to add to soups prepared at their tables.

The automation is planned to lower labor costs and boost efficiency, underpinning the business plan to expand to as many as 5,000 restaurants worldwide.
